With an objective to provide the students of 5th semester, NBBDC a hands-on-experience on what the job world entails, a two day workshop titled “Moving Ahead” was conducted for students of B.A., B.Sc and B.Com was held from 28th September-30th October 2018.
The programme focused on specific life skills like time management and goal setting. The workshop also aimed at providing the college students insights on several aspects of corporate readiness including the aspects of resume building, group discussions and interview skills. More than 250 students attended and benefitted from the programme .
The programme was executed by the College Career Guidance and Placement Cell (CGPC) and funded by RUSA. It was conducted by Dewaker Basnet, Chief Learning Officer, 24hours Inspired. Speaking during the programme Dr. Bina Pradhan, Principal, NBBDC said that it was one of the unique initiatives of the college to provide outgoing students with basic skills in facing the job market. She mentioned that all our students were very well educated and knowledgeable with various talents but whenever they had to present themselves during a job interview, they were not able to impress the interview board within that short span. Such type of training programme would equip the students to make them interview ready and perform well during such interviews.
The convener of CGPC, Dr. Satyadeep Chhetri thanked RUSA, HRDD and the college in allowing such innovative programmes. He further informed that next year there would be special sessions for the 2nd semester students where workshops would be targeted at equipping life skills that would enable them to perform well in the college. He also informed the house of conducting workshops on career counseling , entrepreneurship development and a tete a tete sessions with entrepreneurs of the state and government agencies on start up schemes to make them self reliant.
